United we stand and divided we fall
If any of you have any doubts as to why exactly I am going to Tucson later this week, let me quote the following two statistics:

1) We have had TWENTY-THREE straight days of rain. And yes, the sun is in and out today (what we call "sunbreaks" here in the Northwest), but it's STILL raining. Even when the sun's out.

2) We've had 10 inches of rain in just over three weeks.

Any other questions?? :o)

My father wrote a entry on his blog (I have such a technologically advanced daddy) about a chaplain in the Navy who thinks he's getting booted out because he prayed in public in Jesus' name, when in fact he was possibly getting the axe because he hadn't gotten the endorsement from his denomination in time. Apparently religious workers in the Navy need an endorsement from their religion or denomination.

He's gotten a few comments on his blog, one from me (which doesn't really count; I'm his daughter), and two from Christians.

The thing that just gets under my skin is the fact that this nation is obsessed with its religion. Now that we have an evangelical Christian as president, all the other evangelical Christians have come out of the woodwork and are posting their pro-Christian thoughts everywhere.

Don't get me wrong; I don't think you're damned if you're a Christian or a Buddhist or Muslim or Jew or whomever. I just get irritated at ANY religion who wants to shove its beliefs down my throat.

I also feel that the evangelical Christians in this country have the idea that if you're not for them (ie, a fellow evangelical Christian), then you're against them, and you're the enemy. Aren't we divisive enough in this country without pulling religion in it??

Remember Abraham Lincoln -- "United we stand, divided we fall"?? The more we divide ourselves, based on wealth or religion or education or ethnicity, the more the terrorists win. The way to destroy this country is to divide it up into little groups who are so busy bickering amongst themselves that they don't notice the terrorists infiltrating into the nation and wreaking havoc.

Whatever happened to the patriotism after September 11th?? I knew it was all a show. People may still wave flags or have a "Support Our Troops" sticker on their car, but how patriotic can you be when you're arguing with your neighbor over religion??

Let's just all get over ourselves already and band together to make our nation great again. It doesn't matter who is President, or even if you like him. Let's focus instead on how to pull ourselves up by our bootstraps, instead of quibbling on who's saved (by your definition) and who isn't.
