I am from northern Virginia (though I was born in southern Virginia), which would fall into the mid-Atlantic area because it seceded from the South as soon as Washington, DC, got too big for its britches. Also with its huge immigrant population, English isn't exactly the first language there.
If we do end up moving to Tennessee next year, be assured that my southern accent will move from rather faint to extremely pronounced. Then I will rhyme "pin" with "pen" and "fill" with "feel"!!
